Excellent topic. I think the next one should be on the 2010 World Cup Favorites. First of all, there is no way that Baron Davis starts in the all-star game. But what was more shocking to me was that you said it has nothing to with your bias and more to do with the nation falling in love with him. He had a great series vs. Dallas, but the nation quickly forgot about him after Derron Williams and the Jazz made short work of them in five games. Trust me the nation will not remember that series when they look down at the All-Star ballot and have the choice of voting for Steve Nash from the first place Suns or Baron Davis from the barely over .500 Warriors. No way Nash doesn't get the vote. You have to remember that the majority of NBA fans are middle-class white guys who think Davis is a "thug" and have wet dreams over Nash. You also have to factor in that Baron Davis was left naked and beaten in a Utah hotel room after a game of strip poker, which by the 2007 All-Star weekend I hope to make common knowledge. So, yeah, Davis is out Nash is in. Obviously Duncan makes it, but Kobe might not. He's already lost a huge chunk of fans with his trade demands. Yao makes it because the Chinese government will coerce the population to vote for him even though they have never even seen a basketball game. I'd like to see Durant make it, but I don't see him getting voted in over McGrady. A billion of the votes come from China and he's the only other player they recognize. It's basically a package deal with Yao and McGrady. I don't care enough about the East to respond. If Araujo was in the East he'd probably make the team.
So here's my West starting line-up
PG- Steve Nash
SG- Allen Iverson (Even LA fans don't like Kobe right now, and Iverson always gets voted in)
SF- Tracy McGrady
PF- Tim Duncan
C- Yao Ming
Same as last year because the fans don't know anything about the league and only vote for guys they see in commercials. Here's my DESERVING starting line-up:
PG- Derron Williams (He'll be the best PG next year, no way Nash can guard him)
SG- Kobe (As much as I hate him, he's still the most talented player in the league)
SF-Shawn Marion (I'd rather have Marion on my team over McGrady)
F- Dirk Nowitzki
C- Yao Ming (Even without the Communist voter influence he's still the best center in the west)

Wrong. Derron Williams will not be the best point guard next year. No, Nash cannot guard him, but he can't guard Baron Davis, Tony Parker, Allen Iverson, and he won't be able to guard Conley Jr. Luckily Barbosa is on his own team, or else there would be another that he cannot guard. If Derron Williams cuts down on his turnovers then maybe I'll consider him best point guard in the west, AFTER Nash retires.
